Taxi man turned musician
5th March, 2008
A local taxi man has put aside his spark plugs and oil filters for his love of music.
Scott Kempton, ex service manager for taxi specialist M&O Manchester, has decided to pursue a career in music following 12 years with the LTI dealership.
“It was a really tough decision to leave M&O Manchester,” says Scott. “I fell in love with the taxi trade at an early age and that passion very much still exists today. I’m proud to have worked on such an iconic vehicle as the London Taxi and the latest version the TX4. It’s the same taxi I know and love but the latest one has improved suspension, a more powerful engine and stylish appearance.”
Scott continued: “I must thank all of my colleagues at the dealership and the LTI factory, who make the taxi in Coventry, for all of their support. I have a lot of friends in the trade and I’ve no doubt that we will stay in touch.”
Andrew Shaw, General Manager at M&O Manchester was sorry to see Scott leave: “Scott will be really missed by all of his friends in the taxi trade; however we wish him and his band all the best for the future.”
Scott began his musical career aged 30, when he picked up a guitar for the first time whilst traveling in Australia. Now, part of a five-piece outfit named ‘Element’, he joins a talented group of musicians to perform a range of material including pop, rock, soul and mo-town. The group was recently signed up by a management company to take their brand of live entertainment on the road.
